Guys this week sees the first medal of the season take place. Can I please ask people (who read this) to please take heed of all notices on the notice board. There is a lot of information to get your head around following the cancellation of last weeks Hugh Edgar Doubles. The main news, however, after tiring consultation I (Match Sec) have decided to put winter rulesback into play.
I repeat, Winter Rules Apply for March Medal.
This Saturday plays host to the first competition of 2012 season and I just want to wish all members the best of luck for the season ahead…starting with the Hugh Edgar Doubles. This is a better ball format with max 18 handicap.

Fellow golfers,
As you can see I’ve started to update the website over the past couple of days with a couple of pieces of information. I’m hoping this is the start of increased and frequent updates. I’m also hoping I can get a lot of input from yourselves about information we can publish on here. I’m quite happy to talk to anyone who wants to see any improvements. I do, however, think the problem has been the lack of updates over the past 6-8 months. So, I have to apologise sincerely for this. In that time I’ve had the added task of, no less, the Match Secretary.
I’ve kind of toyed with the idea of setting up a Facebook page which is now on the go (details below). Again I’m open to you, the members of the club, telling me what you want this facility to do. I have also set-up a Twitter account and again… with the purpose of giving out more frequent updates, news, comps, draws etc. But its up to YOU! Please let me, us, the Committee know.

Due to the inclement weather towards the end of the round last week (4/2/12) the tournament was cancelled.
As a consequence we will forward the monies onto Winter Shield R5 due to time constraints and it will now be best 2 scores from 4.

Club Fees, Season 2012/2013
Would all members please note that the secretary will be in the club on Thursday 2nd 16th February and Thursday 1st March r 2012 from 7.15pm to collect the annual fees in person also the money/cheque can be placed in a envelope with your details and posted in the secretary’s box beyond the bar area
The fees can be paid in two parts or in full.
F.Y.I. Fees £150 for ordinary members.
And £100 for senior members.
The above is in accordance with the motion passed at the EGM on 9th Dec 2010 part (d) i.e. part payment in February and final part if required in June.

Ayrshire Golf Summer League 2011
Friday 20th May
Tam ‘O Shanter v Annanhill at Bellisle
Tam O’Shanter win 5-1.
With Annanhill struggling to find a full team, it was left to their youngsters to carry the flag aided by an in form David Kinnell.
Top match saw the much improving Greg Vernon lose 8&7, his opponent stringing 3 birdies together on top of 7 straight pars was a bit too much to handle but good experience for a future star.
An impressive 2&1 win for Gary Morrison gives Annanhill their only point on the night and shows that he is ready to compete at a higher level.
Darren Young and Chris Murchie were matches 3 and 4 and although both lost 5&4 and 4&3 respectively, this wasn’t a disgrace on their debuts for the scratch team at a difficult away venue. Credit to them both, the experience will improve their ‘games’ for the future.
David Kinnell lost out 5&4 but had chances on the greens to make the match a bit tighter. The big man was a bit down after the game but he’ll bounce back and add some more high ‘profile scalps’ to his bag this season.
A disappointing start to this season’s Summer League, which sees a change to the format, with relegation and promotion now playing a part. The key factors will be who can win away from home. Annanhill’s youngsters have shown the ability to compete and will form the nucleus of the club’s team for the season.
Next match 17th June away to Largs.
